Sony Pictures has acquired the international adaptation rights to “Evil Boy.” The studio is already known to develop Indian and South Korean versions of the thriller.
Michael Rifkin, Executive Director of International Production at Sony Pictures, commented on the purchase decision:
"Evil Boy" is a stunning example of a chilling horror, the universal language of which can scare any viewer. We are delighted to be able to begin adapting this unique story in India and South Korea.”
Ilya Burets, the film's producer shared his vision:
“It is not immediately that the boundlessness of the world of cinema may be understood, but for me this is not the first time that a Russia-produced film crosses the borders of Russia in this format (a remake of the film “Kiss Them All!” was released in Latin America in April 2018 and grossed more than 4 million US dollars ). I am glad that our partners appreciate the enthusiasm and high quality of our work, see a potential and opportunity for our film, "Evil Boy," to be understood and loved by viewers in South Korea and India. We are certainly proud to work with such a major studio as Columbia Pictures. All this looks like a dream that has come true!"
Also, we would like to add that the screening rights to the "Evil Boy" thriller have already been sold to 30 countries worldwide currently, including Japan, Germany, South Korea, Hong Kong, France, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia , Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Cambodia, etc.
