December 1941. Ace Soviet Pilot, Nikolay Komlev successfully completes his mission by destroying a German tank column moving towards Moscow, but soon afterwards his plane is hit and brought down by Nazi fighters. Miraculously Komlev manages to land his IL-2 plane in a remote forest clearing. He is relieved to have survived an air fight, and it seems that the worst is now over. However, his trials are only just beginning – the wounded Komlev now has to travel along a challenging and dangerous path, facing frost, pain and hunger, and keeping well clear of the wolves, not to mention a special Nazi detachment, whose task is to find him at all costs. But Pilot Komlev is driven by a powerful will to live, an abundance of courage, and a heart filled with love. Back home the beautiful Olga is waiting for him, and it is his love and longing for her that keeps him warm and determined to press on. However, he has only one chance of survival and returning to his love – to take to the sky again and win.
